Envision the Sacramento Valley Station as not only a regional transportation hub but a vibrant commercial and community-centered destination. Both from the inside and outside, the City is developing plans to create a new sense of place and enhanced purpose of the Sacramento Valley Station. The station will regain a civic presence with exterior architectural lighting, a signage program that will integrate the character of the building with new tenants and Amtrak, and provide more small exterior gathering spaces for lounging, meeting, or dining.
We’ve been asking and listening to what functions would best fit and compliments this magnificent transit station. The feedback we have received is that small vendors “grab-and-go” types are a definite fit for the station, retail that would complement passenger needs, both commuters and Amtrak’s long-distance trains. Food courts and food markets are high on the response list. It is the intent of the City to provide flexibility for a variety of tenant mix that would find interest in locating in the station.
